Tips Healthy Business Travel And A Great Hotel Room Workout ...

I hear it all the time, ?I eat well when I?m at home, but as soon as I hit the road, I gain it all back.? ?There is no doubt that life on the road is tough for people to keep focused on their health. ?Eating out, busy schedules, missed workouts, and poor snacking are just a few reasons for this. ?I have heard of all kinds of crazy ideas, like boxing up a bunch of food and cooking apparatus and sending it UPS. ?Let?s be real. ?Who does that? ?Here are a couple of the simple strategies I use while traveling for work.

Research.? When choosing lodging, or once I know the vicinity of my travel I start checking what is around. ?I am looking for a good grocery store, gyms, good restaurants, and outdoor activities, such as running trails or a quick hike.

Bring snacks.?I always load up with some nutritious snacks such as nuts, trail mix, and energy bars. ?These will help you from buying bad things at a gas station or in the airport. ?Trader Joe?s has a big bag of individual servings of raw almonds and mixed nuts, some with dried fruit. ?I bring these everywhere. ?They are the best.

Fridge. ?Try to get a room with a fridge. ?This is a great way to keep a few things in your room. ?I try to eat breakfast in the room, avoiding crappy continental breakfast bars or fast food. ?There isn?t anything much easier than greek yogurt, a bit of granola, and some fresh fruit to get you started. ?While on the road it?s often tough to get enough fruit and veggies. ?That?s why I buy a drink such as Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness. ? I know they are expensive, but when you look at all the fruit in there, it?s a bargain.

Grocery store. ?Hopefully there is a nearby grocery store or market. ?These are great places to buy things to put in that fridge!

Plan your meals. ?Now that you are armed with all of the information you need, plan your meals, just like at home. ?I know I make the worst food choices when I?m very hungry and can?t find what I want quickly. ?This is easily avoidable by having good snacks and some quick research.

?Workout. ?We all know that we should find a gym, use the hotel gym, or go for a run. ?Sounds easy, but often, we have no transportation to get to a gym, the hotel gym is a joke or non-existent, and the best option for running is the breakdown lane of the nearby four lane highway.

Problem solved: the hotel room workout.

Warm up 10 Jumping jacks 10 Toe touches 10 Push ups 10 Squats 10 Reverse lunges with twist 10 Mountain climbers

Workout

10 Over head squats (arms up, butt touches down on suit case..get low) 10 Push ups (feet on bed, if you can) 10 Romanian split squat (back foot on bed, 10 each leg) 30 sec. Side plank 10 Bent over rows (use your suit case, a chair, or wrap a towel around the corner of the bed and lift it up) 30 sec. Plank 10 Leg curls (place feet on bed and press heels in, lift your hips until your thighs are in ?line with your torso.

Do 2-5 rounds based on your fitness level, as fast as you can. ?Stretch after, then pat yourself on the ass and hit the shower. ?Good job.
