The people in the sports department at the BBC are working their collective fingers to the bone ahead of the London 2012 Olympics, to ensure that the Beeb can deliver every conceivable facet of coverage from the games straight into your eyeballs. The latest addition? A couple of mobile apps that bring nonstop video content to your phone.?
A while back we reported that the BBC had secured a deal with both Sky and Virgin to bring not one, not two, not three or four or a lot of other numbers, but 24 HD video channels to your EPG in time for the games. These feeds will provide near endless coverage of the games as they happen, but they don?t just start and stop on your TV.
The Beeb is adopting a ?four screen? approach, stating that it wants everyone to be able to access its 2,500 hours of content from the whole gamut of events on PC, TV, tablet and mobile.

To achieve the latter, the BBC is rolling out a free app for both iOS and Android, which brings all 24 video channels alongside a ream of written content on every athlete and game that?ll be available offline. Not got time to sit and watch it all? There?ll also be ?short video highlight clips of the day?s best action.?
Likewise, if you?ve not got an iPhone or Android handset, Auntie Beeb?s got you covered with a bespoke mobile site that shrinks down the content available on the full BBC Sport website.
?London 2012 will be the first truly digital Games,? says the BBC. The range of online services will look to ?ensure audiences never miss a moment, delivering unprecedented coverage across multiple platforms.? And with seemingly every screen ticked off, we?d say that looks fairly doable.
